Sail Sydney 2021 - Notice of Race and Online Entry Now Open

Published Fri 16 Jul 2021

Sail Sydney is Australia's premier regatta for 'Off the Beach' dinghy classes. Held annually on the waters of Sydney Harbour, this year’s Sail Sydney will take place from Tuesday 7th through to Monday 13th December 2021.

Woollahra Sailing Club is proud to once again be the host club and official organisers of the event. The regatta began its life as a test event for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, and in recent years has grown to become the annual dinghy event with the largest number of participants in the Southern hemisphere.

This year’s event will be bigger and better than ever as we expand the number of classes, courses and extend the duration of the event. Olympic classes will race during the week, Youth classes will run Thursday to Sunday, Junior classes will run Saturday to Monday and invited classes will run Saturday and Sunday. Additionally, we are looking to make the event more exciting for young sailors by providing coaching clinics with recent world and Olympic champions as guest speakers.

The regatta will mark a return to competition for many athletes and an introduction to the regatta for many junior classes. We look forward to welcoming new and returning competitors and volunteers, a solid and competitive turn out is expected. We would like to thank the volunteers that contribute each year and help make this one of the premier dinghy racing events in Australia. Sail Sydney remains a highlight event on the national racing calendar.

The event will feature a number of Performance Pathways Futures sailors, including Evie Saunders, Paige Caldecoat and Brooke Wilson.

“We have all been training very hard alongside the Australian Sailing Team and Australian Sailing Squad athletes this year,” said Wilson.

“Sail Sydney is one of our favourite events and we are all looking forward to racing.”

Notice of race, race documents and competitor, volunteer and support boat registration are now available on the Sail Sydney Website. Visit the Sail Sydney website to get your entry in today.
