The Notice of Race for Sail Sydney 2019 has been released, with Woollahra Sailing Club set once again to be a hive of activity from December 12th – 15th where scores of competitors will battle it out on the waters of Sydney Harbour.

Youth and Open classes enjoyed the best of Sail Sydney 2018, with three days of sunshine and nor’easters building each afternoon on Sydney Harbour. The regatta has kicked off a busy Australian summer of sailing, from Sabots and skiffs to supermaxis prepping for the Sydney Hobart race which is fast approaching.

Day 3 of Sail Sydney 2018: Breeze arrives on day three at Sail Sydney

Sydney’s traditional summer sea breeze arrived on day three of Sail Sydney, with the morning session for Olympic classes held in north to north-easterly breezes 12-14 knots and the afternoon session flying in 16 knots gusting to 22 out of the nor ‘east on the Nacra 17 course.

Day 2 of Sail Sydney 2018: Gilmour guys show the way at Sail Sydney

Brothers David and Lachy Gilmour put on another impressive display of 49er sailing on day two of the 2018 Sail Sydney regatta on Sydney Harbour today, finishing the day well clear of their competition despite some challenging conditions. With shifting winds and occasional harbour traffic, the Australian Sailing Team athletes added a first and two second places to go with their two wins and a second yesterday to move well clear with two days of competition to come.

Day 1 of Sail Sydney 2018: Wearn picks up where he left off after day one of Sail Sydney

2018 Australian Sailing Male Sailor of the Year award winner Matt Wearn has picked up where he left off, leading a competitive fleet of Laser sailors after the first day of competition at this year’s Sail Sydney regatta. Wearn posted a bullet and a 3 from the two races today, leaving him atop the standings alongside British sailor Lorenzo Chiavarini who also finished with a net point score of four.

29ers stepping it up at Sail Sydney

Entries have soared for the 29er fleet at this year’s Sail Sydney event, with competitors coming from across the country and also New Caledonia and New Zealand to compete at the regatta to be hosted by Woollahra Sailing Club from the 4th to the 9th of December.
